Forwards McNamara, Caza Signed to PTO Contracts

The Mentor Ice Breakers have signed forwards Robert McNamara and Austin Caza to PTO contracts.

McNamara, 24, brings five years of experience at the ACHA level with Niagara University, where he totaled 128 points (66-62-128) over 132 appearances and served as alternate captain as a fifth-year senior.

The Buffalo product scored at a point-per-game pace with the Niagara Whalers (GMHL) in 2014-15 before moving on to Niagara University. In his final collegiate season, McNamara finished as the Purple Eagles’ third-leading scorer with a 13-24-37 line despite playing in only 24 games.

“Robert has shown success for a few seasons in a row at the ACHA level,” said Ice Breakers Head Coach Sebastian Ragno. “I look forward to seeing his production carry over this season.”

At 22 years old, Caza has played in seven different junior leagues since 2016. Last season, he tallied nine points (1-8-9) over five games with the Bradford Rattlers (GMHL). With a 6-foot-3, 195-pound frame, Caza could provide some much-needed physicality to Mentor’s corps of forwards.

“Austin brings some size to the group up front and is not afraid to get to the dirty areas,” Ragno said. “I am excited to see him battle in camp.”
