Mentor, OH - The Mentor Ice Breakers are pleased to announce the signing of goaltender Austyn Roudebush to a contract for the upcoming FPHL season. The 26-year-old comes to Mentor following a successful season with Viking HC (Sweden, Division 2) that saw him post a 3.32 goals-against average to go along with a .909 save percentage.
Roudebush, who hails from Toledo, Ohio, has a big frame at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds. He has three years of junior hockey experience, playing with the Toledo Cherokee in the NA3HL in 2011-12 before spending two seasons with the Leamington Flyers in the GOJHL.
Roudebush spent four years at Adrian College (ACHA Div. I) and had a historic career. He worked his way to becoming Adrian's all-time leader in goals-against average (1.51), save percentage (.942), and shutouts (17). He led the Bulldogs to their first national championship in 2018, earning a tournament MVP nod following a shutdown performance that saw him post a 1.00/.966 slash line with a pair of shutouts over four games.
Last May, Roubebush was named the 2018 ACHA Men's Division I Player of the Year, culminating a successful four-year career. Roudebush will bring a wealth of success and experience to Ice Breakers training camp this October.
